My Story

I am a teacher from the state of Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where I majored in a Bachelor of Science in Education. My specialization was in Spanish and French Language and Culture. During my undergraduate studies, I studied abroad in Bordeaux, France. After finishing my studies and obtaining my teaching certification, I worked as an English teaching assistant in Montpellier, France, through the TAPIF(Teaching Assistant Program in France). My best memories of being abroad were learning how to survive with just my own language skills and some money I had saved up. I had the opportunity to make international connections and learn about myself in ways I wouldn't have if I had stayed in the U.S. I believe these experiences help a person grow in ways no other class subject can. As a teacher, my goal is to provide a positive learning experience and environment  my language classes. I hope these language classes may help open doors for students today and in the future. Outside of teaching, I enjoy being outdoors, attending music festivals, going to sports events in my city, Milwaukee, and taking trips nearby or far away.

What students are saying!

I enjoyed having Tony as a teacher, guiding us to learn Spanish and new skills we had not learned yet. He makes the class fun and sometimes makes me laugh. I believe that my Spanish skills have increased tremendously with learning to communicate and learn about Spanish culture. When I get to college, I hope to pursue a Spanish class to further my communication skills so that if I ever become a business owner, I can communicate with almost anyone.

Second year student 2025-26

This semester, I enjoyed learning about the conjugation of verbs in different tenses, especially the passé composé and imparfait, which helped me understand how each tense reflects different aspects of past actions. I also found it interesting to learn how to use object pronouns to replace nouns in sentences, making my French sound more fluid and natural. Additionally, I enjoyed expanding my vocabulary, particularly words related to daily activities, travel, and culture. Over the course of the class, I believe my French has improved significantly. I feel more confident speaking, reading, and writing in French, especially when it comes to understanding grammar and vocabulary. Moving forward, my goals are to focus on speaking more fluently, reduce hesitation, and increase my vocabulary in areas that interest me. I also aim to improve my listening comprehension and work on writing essays in French to solidify my grammar and vocabulary skills

Third year student 2024-25
This semester in French 3, I enjoyed learning the passé composé and imparfait, which helped me talk about past events more clearly. My French has improved a lot -I'm more confident speaking and understand more when others speak. My writing has also gotten better, especially with the verb tenses. For the future, I want to improve my speaking fluency and vocabulary and start reading more in French to challenge myself.
